The Issue
Devin Chafin, a husband, father of three young boys, and former Baylor University football running back, deserves a fair opportunity to share his skills and passion through a teaching and coaching position at Madill Public Schools for the 2026 school year. Devin holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Kinesiology from Baylor University. He applied to be a substitute teacher and for a full-time position on January 5, 2026 and has substituted multiple times for Madill in the last month while waiting to be interviewed. Letters of recommendation from OKC public school teachers and principals explained what an asset he would be to any school and community. Madill High School football was 0-10 in the 2025 season and he was looking forward to working with the coaching staff.
On February 17, the Madill Superintendent told Devin that he would not be considered for any position due to articles online about him from 2016, when he was 21 years old.
Unfortunately, Devin's career was unfairly marred by false accusations during the Baylor scandal in 2016, linked to misleading reports by an ESPN Deportes employee and ex-girlfriend. These allegations have plagued him unjustly, casting a shadow over what could have been a promising career in the NFL. Despite these challenges, Devin remains committed to clearing his name and demonstrating his true character. Devin has never been sued, no police reports, no criminal charges, and no record of misconduct. He coached running backs and taught high school geometry for Midwest City High School in 2022-2023 and helped lead them to a District title.
Devin has a passion for mentoring young individuals, fueled by his experiences both on and off the field. His unique background as a top-tier college athlete provides him with insights and experiences that can profoundly influence young students and athletes.
By hiring Devin Chafin, Madill Public Schools will not only gain an extraordinarily qualified teacher and coach, but also a role model who personifies resilience and integrity. Let us come together to urge the Madill Public Schools Superintendent and School Board to give him the chance he truly deserves; please sign this petition to support Devin Chafin's future in education and coaching!
