This petition is intended to enhance our Canadian democracy by ensuring that our elected representatives are aware of the local issues and concerns particularly in the new federal riding of Bow View (Alberta). 

Politicians are elected to represent their constituants so they need a MINIMUM of 6 months to acquaint themselves with the local issues, local groups, and local politicians.

"Parachuting" candidates into a riding they have not lived in is very disrespectful to the residents.  Citizens and constituancies are not prizes to be used as reward to the party faithful.

Parachuting even 'good' candidates into a riding is irresponsible as it often leads to the elected official voting against the opinions of residents.

There are more than 100,000 residents in the new federal riding of Bow River so surely we can find someone from OUR communities that understands OUR concerns and will well represent us in the House of Commons.
