Please support our petition for the completion of the Connemara Greenway from Galway City to Clifden.
A Greenway route which is fair to landowners and which will see hundreds of thousands of Galwegians, domestic and foreign tourists cycling and walking the Greenway on a yearly basis (The Great Western Greenway in Mayo had 275,000 users in 2015)
This is not only good for local businesses in the form of Hotels, pubs, Cafes, B&B's, new bike shops and shops in Galway, Moycullen, Oughterard, Mamm, Recess and Clifden; it is great for whole communities as they get active and get connected again.
Imagine cycling from Galway City to Moycullen, taking in the beautiful views of Lough Corrib and then stopping for a coffee and cake. You brush the crumbs off and keep on cycling through native forests on your way to Oughterard, having a bite to lunch. Then completing the journey past the Connemara mountains, stopping for a dip in Derryclare Lake (see photo), with Clifden your final destination. All of this should be a reality and we are being left behind as many other areas have their Greenways up and running.
Please support this petition and show how much the community wants this vital piece of infrastructure.
