Stop the Eversource Rate Increase
The Issue
Connecticut's electric monopoly, Eversource, is seeking to extract several hundred million dollars over the next three years from ratepayers like you and me. They will do this through a rate increase on your electric bill. This comes despite the fact that we as ratepayers have seen no improvement in reliability and the company continues to reduce staff that support our electrical infrastructure.
Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) will be the government body making this decision. For too long PURA has ignored ratepayers and granted the utility's frequent requests for greater profits. This includes their decision to ignore the hundreds of you who signed my last petition and made us all pay for Eversource's lack of infrastructure maintenance after Irene and Sandy.
The most recent windstorm is evidence that they've learned nothing from prior events. Communication to ratepayers and town officials remains poor. Executives have seen huge salary increases (with many paid north of $1 million) . The company even fired all of their IT workers, replacing them with foreign replacement workers who totally botched the automated outage reporting system during the recent storm
Enough is enough. It's time for the company to start paying for its neglect. Not us. When you sign this petition your thoughts will be emailed directly to PURA officials. They need to hear from you.
