Change Christopher Columbus Memorial Highway to St. Kateri Tekakwitha Highway

The Issue

The Christopher Columbus Memorial Highway in Connecticut is currently named after a person who is in part responsible for the genocide of the original people of our continent. However, this highway was named because the Knights of Columbus petitioned to have a road named after the man they considered a symbol against anti-Catholic sentiment at the time of their foundation. To reach a compromise, this petition asks for the road to be renamed after the first Native American Catholic saint. Allow St. Kateri Tekakwitha to be a better role model for young Catholics.
