Minister Frank Feighan agrees to present petition and explore raising the issue within government

Yesterday, I met with Minister Frank Feighan and Cllr Fergal Nealon in Sligo to discuss the Connect the West campaign and the need for better Dublin–Sligo rail connectivity.

The campaign now has close to 5000 signatures, calling for a timetable that works better for people living in the West and Northwest — including both an earlier train into Sligo and a later train home from Dublin.

I was very encouraged by the support for the campaign.  Frank has agreed to raise the petition and the case for improved evening connectivity with Iarnród Éireann, and to explore raising within government.

It was great to have the opportunity to discuss the campaign directly with local representatives, and I’m very grateful to Frank and Fergal for their support.
