Orthodox Christians need their Christmas, January 7th, off!
The Issue
January 6th and 7th are Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for Orthodox Christians. Orthodox Christianity is an umbrella term for many groups, such as Coptic Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, and Greek Orthodox. Every year, students are forced to take this day off from school as a personal day which is held against them, resulting in them unfairly losing school time, and possibly a perfect attendance award, because of a religious observance. It is unfair to have to choose between school or religion, especially when people of other faiths are granted their holidays off. We are asking for only January 7th off as that is one of the biggest holidays of the year for us. Every signature counts, please sign!
