Start By Believing/trauma-informed is like a contagious disease. Once detectives reject their oath to conduct impartial and fair investigations, they seem to be willing to do anything to get a conviction, even to the point of coaching the accuser what to say.

These are the facts of a recent case in India:

• A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly touching a 13-year-old girl’s hand with his shoulder that involved ‘sexual’ intent.
• Two boys who were accompanying the girl told the court that they did not see any misbehavior by the man.
• The judge cited the statements of the boys and agreed that the allegations of the girl were factually wrong.

During the hearing, the girl also admitted that she was tutored by the local police about what to say in her statement.
