Yesterday the DOJ Office of the Inspector General released its long-awaited report on allegations that the FBI had biased its investigation of allegations of Russian interference in the presidential election in order to get a warrant to do surveillance on innocent American citizens -- see attached article.

The report confirms our worst fears. The FBI investigators:

  • began with an assumption of guilt
  • relied on questionable sources
  • failed to disclose exculpatory evidence to the judge

Which is exactly what happens in investigations that are based on Start By Believing and trauma-informed concepts.

Attorney General William Barr denounced “a small group of now-former FBI officials” for their “misconduct,” “malfeasance and misfeasance,” and “clear abuse of the FISA process.”

The irony, of course, is that the DOJ has been funding the Start By Believing program for years. Millions of dollars.

And continues to sponsor programs on ideas like "vicarious trauma."

So when will the Department of Justice end its unconstitutional embrace of "victim-centered" investigations? We really want to know.
