Thank you all for signing my petition. After the shooting in Parkland, gun research shouldn’t be controversial — it should be one of the easiest things for Congress to do. It’s been amazing to have your support and to see the leadership from students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas. We want to get #RestoreGunResearch trending on Twitter. Help us make gun research part of the conversation by sending a tweet here: https://ctt.ec/UAf4h After my mom survived the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary where she was a teacher, I thought our lawmakers would finally embrace common sense gun control measures. They haven’t and we continue to see tragedies like Parkland. That’s why it’s so important that we continue fighting. That we keep raising our voices. Please learn more about this issue from Doctors for America. Their statement on the Parkland mass shooting gives helpful insight into the importance of combating gun violence as a public health emergency: http://www.drsforamerica.org/press-releases/statement-on-parkland-florida-mass-shooting If you’re part of a medical, public health, or science organization, you can join DFA’s coalition here: https://goo.gl/bfKxjo Thank you, Sarah
