Say NO To The Captive Primate Safety Act

Say NO To The Captive Primate Safety Act
The Issue
As an owner of SunShine MonkeyShines, I would like to inform you on the catastrophic effects that the Senate Bill H.R.2920, the Captive Primate Safety Act holds. I would like lawmakers to oppose the passage of this act on the basis that it does not fully represent the best interests of primates and threatens to present a damaging educational message to the American public. The bill portrays primates as non-human animals who have the ability to inflict serious injuries to humans and pose a threat to human health. As a human being who has worked with a large array of exotic animals with the public for over eight years, this bill would prohibit the hands on educational encounters (exactly what SunShine MonkeyShines and other companies do) that many children and disabled children receive at facilities such as zoos and schools. On top of this, many private non-human primate owners would not be able to receive proper veterinarian care for his or her non-human primate because the bill would prohibit the transportation of these animals across state lines. To hear more about the conflicts that the Captive Primate Safety Act would ensue, feel free to call me at 440-714-4874. Say NO to the Captive Primate Safety Act.
