Impeach AND Nullify

Impeach AND Nullify

The Issue

Impeach AND Nullify

The evidence is mounting that criminal conspiracies of all kinds affected the outcome of the last presidential election in Trump’s favor. In this time of navigating uncharted constitutional waters and threats to, and assaults upon, the deepest principles of our democracy, a bold course is warranted and worth the risk. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.

If the upcoming Fall elections result in substantial blue wave success, particularly if Democrat majorities take over the House and Senate, they need to consider the following, in addition to or instead of impeachment, or perhaps running on a parallel track with impeachment proceedings. In the case of successful impeachment and removal from office, it would likely result in Mike Pence becoming president. However, in addition or instead, Congress should consider declaring the results of the 2016 presidential election null and void, based upon the mounting evidence presented by Mueller’s and Congress’ investigations that conspiracies of all kinds favoring Trump likely affected the outcome of the election. This would prevent Pence from becoming president, because his Vice-Presidency would also be considered null and void, which would result in, among other things, eliminating any possibility of Trump being pardoned after impeachment. Consistent with the normal order of presidential succession, declare the Speaker of the House as the new president. In addition, due to the election being declared null and void, declare all presidential actions taken by Trump null and void, including all executive orders, judicial and cabinet appointments, and pardons (including Supreme Court appointments – if the nominations were invalid, then the Senate approval would also be invalid).

If this issue ever was to go to the Supreme Court, all Trump appointees would need to recuse because of the obvious conflict of interest that their jobs would hang on the outcome.

There needs to be a grass-roots Nullification movement based upon sanity, truth and kindness, similar to, but contrary to the Birther movement, which was based upon insanity, lies and cruelty.
