As a result of the disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court Decision, special interests like the NRA can spend incredible sums of money on elections and buy politicians. Meanwhile, the majority of Americans—people who don’t have tens of millions of dollars to spend on elections—agree that we must pass commonsense gun safety legislation. And yet those people's voices are ignored. We have got to reform campaign finance in this country but we have also got to take on the NRA. Republicans are going to have to stand up and say that avoiding antagonizing the NRA is not more important than protecting people’s lives.

Meanwhile, the majority of Americans—people who don’t have tens of millions of dollars to spend on elections—agree that we must pass commonsense health and drug legislation. And yet those people's voices are ignored. We have got to reform campaign finance in this country but we have also got to take on the Pharmaceutical companies. ALL PARTIES  are going to have to stand up and say that avoiding antagonizing the Pharmaceutical Industry is not more important than protecting people’s lives.
