Military members serve our country and learn a skill becoming subject matter experts. They then perform these tasks in high stress, high stakes environments - sometimes for 12 or more hours a day 7 days a week for months on end. Most learn more in the military tech schools or AIT's than a civilian technical school or even college might teach them. Add to that the time spent doing the job and they often have more experience than a civilian doing the job in the same time frame.
