Dear Congress,

As we struggle to cope with a global pandemic, it is irresponsible for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to sell leases for oil and gas drilling. In the midst of a public health crisis, we cannot move forward with March 18th’s Lease Sale 254 to drill in the Gulf of Mexico. The federal government needs to focus on addressing COVID-19; leasing land for oil and gas drilling during this critical time shows a lack of care for the public health of our country. We urge you to halt oil and gas lease sales for the duration of this crisis, and immediately cancel Lease Sale 254.
