Killer whales are largely a social creature that need social interaction just as humans do. They usually hunt in pods and spend a large part of their lives in groups. Killers whales require a diet if much more than fish. They feed on other whales, fish, seals, sharks and many other sources of food that are not being provided in captivity. We put them in a human schedule to perform at command and that is why people are dying because of the frustration and stress that is imparted onto the whales. I would venture to say that the trainers that have died were a result of many things but one being the hunting mode of the whale because the trainer was consumed in part by the animal. Where do we draw the line. Will we try and capture a spem whale next. Beluga whales, killer whales should not be used to amuse and satisfy our human curiosity by putting them on display. As he man's are THEY ARE MAMMALS not fish and just as humans have needs that are suppressed by being placed in captivity. Just as when a human is placed in prison and confined to a daily regimen so are the whales but they have committed no crime. It is we humans that are committing the crime by taking these creatures from their natural habitat and surroundings, traumatizing them and them training them to do as we command is inhumane and should be brought to an end.
