The Issue

"The confederate flag of hate waving over I75 in Tampa is a symbol of oppression, racism, and slavery. It is a reminder of a painful past in American History. Enslavement, inhumane treatment, ripping  apart families, all while trampling human rights.  It is a painful reminder of  a past that should best be forgotten, just as the Nazi and the Swatstika.  I am sure it is no coincidence that it also happens to be strategically placed near the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd exit.  Dr King gave his life fighting for civil rights, and this flag is an insult to his memory.

The placement of the sign was strategic, and a direct insult to the mission that ultimately cost Dr Martin Luther King, Jr his life.

This only serves to keep a wound open and prevent healing. It should be removed immediately, join us as we take action. Let's stand up until they take it down!"
