Conduct NEET UG Twice a Year – Like JEE Main – For Mental Relief and Fairness

The Issue

To: Ministry of Education, Government of India & National Testing Agency (NTA)

I am a NEET aspirant and a concerned citizen, requesting an urgent and much-needed reform in the NEET UG exam structure. Currently, NEET UG is conducted only once a year. This creates immense mental pressure on lakhs of students who have prepared for years but are given only one attempt.

Many deserving students lose their only chance due to factors beyond their control:

Health issues on exam day

Anxiety or mental pressure

Family emergencies

Exam-day technical or logistical problems

In 2018, then Education Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar had officially announced that NEET would be held twice a year from 2019, just like JEE (Main). However, this promise was never implemented.

Meanwhile, JEE Main is now conducted twice a year, and this change has led to reduced stress, improved scores, and better opportunities for lakhs of engineering aspirants.

If NEET UG is conducted twice — for example in May and September — it will:

Reduce mental stress and anxiety

Give students a second fair chance

Prevent forced drop years

Improve mental health and performance

We urge the Ministry of Education and NTA to reconsider the 2018 promise and conduct NEET UG twice a year from NEET 2026 onwards.

Please support this petition in the interest of millions of NEET aspirants. A small change can make a huge difference.
