The Issue

Despite existing efforts, dangerous driving conditions persist in our Rogers, Arkansas neighborhood of Bellview Estates. Our community currently has posted stop signs, "Slow – Children Present" signage, and increased police presence. Unfortunately, these measures have not been sufficient. Many drivers fail to come to a complete stop at intersections, and speeding remains a consistent and serious issue that puts our residents at risk.

Our neighborhood has become a frequent cut-through route for drivers attempting to avoid nearby traffic signals. This has significantly increased the volume of high-speed traffic, endangering our community members, especially children and elderly pedestrians. The urgent need for enhanced traffic calming solutions is apparent, and we are calling for decisive action.

The most effective measure to counteract this worsening situation is the possible installation of speed humps throughout our residential streets. Speed humps have been proven in numerous communities around the country to reduce vehicle speeds and enhance pedestrian safety significantly. According to a study conducted by the Institute of Transportation Engineers, streets with speed humps see an average reduction in speed by up to 25%, drastically decreasing the likelihood of accidents and severe injuries.

Additionally, a comprehensive traffic study would provide invaluable data to further tailor solutions to our specific context and ensure that they are both effective and sustainable in the long term. This study could assess traffic patterns, peak times for congestion, and gather driver compliance data at current stop controls.

We are reaching out to the city officials of Rogers, AR, and the local Department of Transportation to stand with us in prioritizing the safety of our streets. The reckless driving practices must be addressed immediately to prevent tragic accidents. Bellview Estates deserves a safe environment for all its residents, and implementing these measures is a crucial step toward achieving that.

Please support us in this endeavor to make our neighborhood safer by signing this petition. Your signature will amplify our collective voice and urge the necessary decision-makers to act swiftly and decisively.
