Condemn Iranian regime’s executions of protesters
Why this petition matters
all to action: Unfair trials of arrested demonstrators in I.R of Iran
Dear Sir, Madam;
The Islamic Republic Judiciary has reported that over 1000 arrested demonstrators will be placed on public trial in a revolutionary court.
The Judiciary normally denies defendants the right tochoose their own defence and, in some cases, there is no legal representative. These trials are unjust and unfair and in some circumstances the sentences are pre-determined.
Media outlets loyal to the Islamic Republic Guards Corps have quoted the chief justice of Tehran declaring that these protestors, who were unarmed, have carried out acts of espionage against the Islamic Republic and are charged with ‘‘corruption on earth’’ which is punishable by death in the Islamic Republic.
Mr. Mohammad Ghobadlou, a 22-year-old protestor has already been condemned to death prior to the trials even commencing.
The Islamic Republic may attempt to send the protestors a strong message by handing out death sentences.
The demonstrations, which have now entered their seventh week are referred to as a revolution in Iran, and there are no immediate signs of it abating.
The only crime of the arrested protestors was to stand firm and demand freedom and liberty from a theocratic dictatorship.
More than 1500 unarmed protestors, 44 of whom were minors, have been killed by the Islamic Republic security forces, paramilitary and secret service. Many thousands have been arrested or kidnapped from the streets and there are confirmed reports that the protestors are being tortured and raped in custody.
We ask for your urgent help regarding the death sentence of Mr. Ghobadlou and the unfair and unjust trials of over 14000 unarmed protestors in Iran.
All Human Rights organizations must now hold the Islamic Republic to account by applying maximum international pressure on the Islamic Republic and spreading awareness in the community.
