Concerns regarding safety standards within the HD (India) Riders community.

The Issue

The Incident-

The Delhi chapter of HD hosted its annual event NHR in Agra for its riding community on the night of 29th March, 2025, which turned into a nightmare for one of the riders from Kerala, who was falsely accused and subjected to verbal and physical abuse, for no fault of his.

The aggressor couple from the Delhi chapter, male A and female B, accompanied by another female C & male D from the same chapter who were behaving as instigators, suddenly went up to the victim who was on the dance floor, and started demanding to know why he had molested female B.

The victim clearly didn't know what they were referring to, and made his stance perfectly clear to all present there, that he was in no way involved in any such incident, and after some discussion, he left the dance floor amicably at 10.30 p.m.,  to eat his dinner and retire to his room thereafter.

Later that same night, around 3.00 a.m., a mob consisting of the Delhi chapter gang consisting of aforementioned A, B, C and D, along with some Punjab riders, went to the staff at the hotel reception, and demanded that they take them to the victim's room, so they could settle the matter with him.

When the hotel refused to provide them with the details, the aggressors went online and checked the victim's social media profiles. From there, they obtained the details of his bike, and went outside to locate and BURN HIS BIKE. However, they were intercepted and stopped by the hotel security, and fortunately, the victim had come to Agra by flight.

When all their ploys failed, the gang went to the local Agra police, who accompanied them back to the hotel and to the victim's room, to confront him for his alleged crime.

The victim, who does not know Hindi, did his best to explain that he was completely innocent, and asked them to check the CCTV footage for evidence. The police, the gang of aggressors, the victim, along with the hotel staff, all checked the footage, where it was clearly established that no such incident had occurred, and that the claim of the Delhi rider's female companion (B) was completely baseless and unfounded.

The Agra police and the hotel staff clearly stated, based on the evidence from the CCTV footage, that there was absolutely no proof of any wrongdoing, and there were no grounds to restrain him or take any disciplinary action against him.

He was cleared of any allegations, and was allowed to leave the city, however, not before the aggressors made the victim sign some kind of a letter of compromise written in Hindi(a language that the victim does not understand) before allowing him to return home.

While the CCTV footage was being verified, the Delhi chapter manager was manhandled and his phone was broken by this mob, for trying to explain the victim's story. The event organizer also intervened when he heard all the commotion, but was manhandled by this mob, and threatened to either shut up, or face the consequences.

The fallout of this incident is that it has created the wrong impression amongst some of the riders, that this mob-lynching and attention-seeking mentality is acceptable in the community, but we would like to clearly state that IT IS NOT, and as a riding community collectively, we have zero tolerance for this type of behaviour. This incident has clearly set a bad example for our peaceful riding community. If this is tolerated and excused, this could easily happen to any one of us riders who attend such events in the future.

Actionable:

Our community of riders demands justice for the harrowing ordeal that the victim had to undergo, and the false allegations that were levied against him. He had to endure tremendous emotional stress during the ordeal, as well as defamation of his character, for which he should receive an apology and a public acknowledgment of his innocence.

Despite having access to all the relevant information and the crucial evidence of the CCTV footage, the brand and its nominated head of the community are now calling for a 'compromise' in the form of overlooking this incident, and letting the behaviour of the aggressors gang be brushed under the carpet unaddressed. For the sake of the safety of this community, that should not be condoned under any circumstances.

Previous incidents that have threatened the safety of this community include the physical assault of a fellow-rider at the 2023 NHR event by his own chapter members from north India.

At the 2024 NHR event, a rider BROUGHT A GUN into the venue to threaten another North rider at the event, and now in 2025, we have had this false case.

It is evident that due to all these incidents, we can no longer claim that our community of riders is safe at the events we attend. It would be natural to assume that we are all respectable and responsible citizens, and we all know how to conduct ourselves as members of this community. However, some riders from the North have proven that this is not so, and are willing to selfishly threaten the safety and endanger the lives of other riders due to their own ego and arrogance.

In light of the above information and incidents, this riding community demands that the aggressors (a minimum of 4 persons mentioned initially) be removed from this community to send a clear message, and to assure its members that the safety and security of the riders is of primary importance, and that aggressive, disruptive and potentially dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated towards any of its members.

We need to feel safe as a community, and receive reassurance from the brand that brings us all together that our interests are being protected by them, and that nobody's safety and security is compromised by false allegations or threatening behaviour. Anyone found violating these standards should be held accountable and penalized for their actions, as we are expecting in this case as well.

All riders of this community are requested to participate in this campaign and show your support:

1) For the victim of this incident, so that he receives an apology and public acknowledgment of his innocence.

2) Strict action to be taken against the aggressors / perpetrators of the false allegations by ensuring their removal from the riding community.

Please remember, that you are a part of this community, and tomorrow, it could be you facing false allegations or life-threatening circumstances at an event, due to the lack of safety measures by the brand and the behaviour of a few miscreants.

Let's all work together to ensure the safety and security of our community!
