Concerns about construction behind Forestview homes
The Issue
FORESTVIEW COMMUNITY PETITION
Protect Our Homes, Our Community, and Our Future
To the residents of Forestview, our neighbours in Niagara Falls, and all concerned members of our community:
We, the residents and families of the Forestview community in Niagara Falls, Ontario, are coming together to ask for your support.
Our neighbourhood was chosen because of its peaceful surroundings, residential character, and proximity to nature. We are now deeply concerned about the scale and impact of the development planned on Block 116, directly behind our homes.
The current development includes four four-storey buildings and approximately 120 parking spaces. Residents have serious concerns about the impact this development may have on our homes, our quality of life, traffic, noise, the environment, and public safety.
We want our community to be heard
Residents also want greater clarity about the history of the property and its zoning.
According to planning documents, Block 116 was originally subject to Residential Low Density, Grouped Multiple Dwellings (R4-1083) zoning. The property was subsequently rezoned to permit a larger apartment development.
We believe residents deserve clear, accessible information about these changes, the planning decisions that led to them, and the studies and safeguards supporting the current development.
Our environmental and safety concerns
The development is located adjacent to a chemical plant, which makes environmental and public-safety considerations especially important to our community.
We are asking for transparency regarding the environmental, engineering, safety, traffic, and other assessments that have been completed.
We want to know:
What environmental studies have been conducted?
What safety assessments have been completed because of the neighbouring industrial facility?
What measures are in place to protect nearby residents?
What potential impacts on air, soil, water, wildlife, and the surrounding environment have been considered?
Have all applicable planning, engineering, environmental, and safety requirements been satisfied?
These are reasonable questions from people who live here.
This has caused concern about potential effects on our properties and the well-being of residents.
We are asking for an independent investigation and proper documentation of these vibrations, including their source, intensity, duration, and potential impact on nearby homes.
Residents should not be left wondering whether their properties are being affected by construction activity.
What we are asking for
As a community, we respectfully call upon the City of Niagara Falls, elected representatives, provincial ministries, developers, and relevant authorities to:
Listen to the concerns of Forestview residents.
Provide clear and transparent information regarding Block 116 and its zoning history.
Make relevant environmental, engineering, safety, traffic, and planning studies available to residents, where permitted by law.
Conduct or require appropriate independent environmental and safety reviews.
Independently investigate the reported ground-borne vibrations affecting nearby homes.
Confirm that all required permits, approvals, studies, regulations, and conditions are being followed.
Provide meaningful communication and consultation with the residents directly affected by this development.
Take appropriate action if investigations identify environmental, safety, structural, or regulatory concerns.

This petition is not about preventing responsible development.
It is about ensuring that development occurs responsibly, transparently, and safely,
