Anglers: James River Blue Catfish Need Your Support

Blue catfishing on the James River is a nationally recognized trophy fishery. Anglers from around the country routinely travel and fish the James for blue catfish creating a multimillion-dollar destination fishery. This tourism supports many local business.
Recently, a number of agencies and educational institutions have joined together to reduce the biomass (total amount) of blue catfish in the James through increased commercial harvesting. While keeping small fish (less than 15 pounds) will help support the trophy blue cat fishery, blue catfish of 20 to 50+ pounds are also being kept.
The current commercial law allows all blue catfish up to 32 inches to be kept including one catfish over 32 inches per day per person on the commercial boats. Often times there are five or more people working within one group. That’s a lot of trophy blue catfish over 32 inches … gone … every day they work.
Please show your support of the recreational trophy blue cat fishery on the James River by signing this petition in support of the following ....
Changing the current commercial harvest of blue catfish on the James River to: Keep no blue catfish over 30 inches.
