The Issue
Concerned Parents, Students, and Stakeholders Call for Immediate Administrative Review at Belmont Secondary School
We, the concerned parents, students, alumni, and stakeholders of Belmont Secondary School, are calling for urgent intervention and immediate administrative review regarding the leadership of Belmont Secondary School under Ag, Principal Rennie Thomas-Caines.
Over multiple school terms, parents, teachers, students, and stakeholders have raised repeated and serious concerns regarding policies, administrative conduct, school conditions, student wellbeing, and the overall direction of the school under the current administration.
Many stakeholders believe the school environment has significantly deteriorated during the current administration, resulting in growing frustration, declining morale, loss of confidence in leadership, and increasing division within the Belmont Secondary community.
Concerns raised by parents and stakeholders include:
• Student safety concerns before and after school
• Students reportedly being placed in unsafe roadside waiting conditions
• Inadequate waiting and shelter arrangements for students
• Sanitation, ventilation, maintenance, and health concerns within the school environment
• Reduced extracurricular activities, sports programs, and student opportunities
• Restrictions affecting parental involvement and PTA collaboration
• Difficulties accessing teachers and obtaining academic support for students
• Concerns regarding communication, transparency, and administrative conduct
• Reports of increasing conflict, tension, and declining trust within the school community
• Allegations regarding the handling of PTA and school-related funds, for which stakeholders are demanding transparency and accountability
Parents and stakeholders state that numerous complaints, reports, meetings, and attempts at dialogue were made over an extended period but many believe their concerns were repeatedly ignored or dismissed.
As a result, many parents, students, and stakeholders no longer have confidence in the current administration and believe meaningful intervention is necessary to restore stability, trust, accountability, and student-focused leadership at Belmont Secondary School.
This petition is not rooted in personal hostility, but in the belief that students deserve a safe, respectful, transparent, and supportive educational environment where their wellbeing and academic success are prioritized above all else.
We respectfully call for:
An immediate independent administrative review regarding the leadership and administrative practices at Belmont Secondary School
A transparent investigation into ongoing complaints and allegations raised by parents and stakeholders
Immediate corrective action where necessary to protect student wellbeing and restore public confidence
Greater transparency, accountability, and communication between administration, teachers, parents, and students
Leadership solutions that place the interests, safety, and educational wellbeing of students first
Belmont Secondary School has a proud legacy and strong community. Its students deserve leadership that restores unity, trust, opportunity, and confidence within the school environment.
