First, a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have supported this cause from the beginning. Your passion and dedication have brought our concerns to the forefront, and while the District of North Vancouver (DNV) has approved this project, our fight is far from over. There is still a significant opportunity to make our voices heard through our provincial MLAs.
The provincial government controls the funding of this project, and we can urge our local MLAs to reconsider and relocate it. Since an election is coming up, there is an opportunity to change this. Sam Chandola, the BC Conservatives candidate running for MLA for North Vancouver - Seymour has recently spoken out against this development, condemning its disregard for community safety and common sense. The project is located in his riding, and he is committed to working on relocating the project to a more suitable location, and with our continued efforts, we can make that a reality. Sam’s full statement on this project is linked here: https://www.samchandola.ca/opeds/keithroadsupportivehousing
Remember, if Richmond was able to get a similar project suspended, there is no reason we can't achieve the same result here. The provincial government stepped back from a proposed supportive housing project in Richmond after community pushback, proving that we can redirect these funds to better, safer projects.
If you live in Sam Chandola's riding and would like to discuss your thoughts on this project further, you can reach out to him directly at sam.chandola@conservativebc.ca. He is running on a platform to relocate the project, and has mentioned that he wants to actively meet and speak with people in the community about this project.
Let’s keep pushing forward—let’s make sure our provincial leaders hear us loud and clear. Together, we can protect our neighborhoods and ensure that any housing developments are planned with care and consideration for our community's safety.
Thank you again for your continued support. We have come this far, and with your help, we can take this fight all the way to our provincial MLAs and BC housing.
