Dr. Joseph V. Rella's recent passing on Feb 21, 2020, reminded everyone in the Comsewogue community of the wonderful legacy of Dr. Rella. In transcending the role of superintendent as teacher, father, and community man, Dr. Rella dedicated his entire professional life to service and always placed the welfare of students above himself. He inspired faculty, uplifted students, and helped all of those around him to see the world in a positive light. Our community recognizes how beloved he was, his educational impact, and his genuine compassion for our families.

In order to remember his legacy for future generations to come, the Comsewogue Community petitions for the renaming of Comsewogue Senior High School to Joseph V. Rella Senior High School in recognition of his multi-generational impact, commitment to education, and to always honor his name.
