This petition advocates for urgent government action to address the alarming water crisis in Pakistan. With a water life of merely 30 days, the situation demands immediate attention. 

Pakistan has dams that reserve water only for 30 days while in other South Asian countries it's more, such as in India it's 220 days. All these factors are leading the country to a famine-like situation

Currently, only 1% of collected wastewater is treated, exacerbating the issue. Israel, which was water-deficient with 70 percent desert, has achieved water security by treating and reusing around 90 percent of its wastewater, primarily for irrigation, meeting around one-quarter of the country’s demand for water. Similarly, Singapore – another water-scarce country – is meeting 40 percent of its water demand from recycled wastewater which is expected to reach 55 percent by 2060.

Since independence, the country has lost 80% of its water availability, and despite the severity of the crisis, substantial steps have not been taken.

Inspired by firsthand accounts, particularly from those in Thar, where water scarcity is a daily struggle leading to dire consequences, we aim to highlight the urgency of the matter. In Thar alone, nearly 1500 children succumb to malnutrition and drought-related factors each year.

According to GOP 2016, about 60 percent of people in Pakistan are suffering from one or more of the main diseases associated with inadequate provision of drinking water and improved sanitation.

Also, only 36% of Pakistani population has access to safe drinking water. The situation is extremely dire.

Our petition urges the government to initiate projects focused on wastewater treatment, improved sanitation and the construction of dams to safeguard and enhance the nation's water resources.
