For around twenty years or so, half of McCord Rd (the portion that connects to Whitehouse Rd) has been left unpaved and neglected. This neglect not only affects daily life on McCord Rd but also poses a significant health risk to our community.

Every day, vehicles speed down this unpaved stretch of road, kicking up massive clouds of dust. This dust is not just an inconvenience—it's a health hazard. The World Health Organization states that exposure to dust can lead to respiratory problems and other adverse health effects. Our homes and cars are constantly covered in layers of dust due to this issue. We can't even enjoy time in our front yard without someone zooming by and covering us in dust. Don't even get me started on the landmine of potholes and excessive vehicular wear and tear! 

Moreover, it's not just about cleanliness or health; it's about fairness too. The other half was paved approximately two decades ago - why should we be left behind? Not to mention, the neighboring Whitehouse Rd got yet another fresh chip and seal treatment last year when it was already perfectly fine.

My road complaint forms submitted to Washington County have been ignored, so I'm going out on a limb to see if this petition gains any traction. I'm doubtful, but I suppose it's better than nothing!

I urge the local authorities in Elkins, AR to prioritize completing the paving on McCord Rd for the sake of our community’s wellbeing and equity among residents. Please sign this petition if you believe in creating safer and healthier environments for all residents on McCord Rd.
