I am one of the many residents who cherish the beautiful pond  behind Rancher Rd. that graces our community. This serene spot is a favorite for families, nature lovers, and fitness enthusiasts. My family, friends, and neighbors often seek solace, exercise, and enjoyment by the water's edge. However, our ability to fully experience this area is hindered by an unfinished path. The pathway, which should be a welcoming loop around the pond, only offers access for a portion of its length. Beyond this, it becomes an impassable trail, turning into an unfinished gravel 'maintenance road' unsuitable for walking, biking, or wheelchair access.

This incomplete pathway is more than an inconvenience; it represents a missed opportunity to create a fully inclusive and accessible community space in our local neighbourhood. Nearly one-third of this potential pathway is not user friendly, and the current state fails to meet the needs of many, including those with mobility challenges, parents pushing strollers, and children on bicycles.

We have been told by Strathcona County that these conditions are final, yet this reasoning is hard to accept. In a community that values inclusivity and outdoor enjoyment, it is perplexing that this path remains unfinished. We believe that enhancing this trail to be accessible for all should be a priority.

Consider the possibilities: a complete, accessible loop around the pond would not only benefit all local residents but also increase the attractiveness of our community. Enhanced pathways encourage more outdoor activity, foster a stronger community spirit, and promote a healthier lifestyle. It would particularly empower those reliant on wheelchairs and strollers to enjoy this shared space fully.
