It's time for that to change. While this corridor between downtown and Second Ward has seen some changes in the last few years, the street itself has not. New homes and business have been built along this right-of-way, but instead of serving the neighborhood and the greater East End, Commerce Street clings to its industrial past, with bumpy pavement, missing sidewalks, and abandoned train tracks.

A Complete Commerce Street will unlock the potential of a rapidly developing urban corridor, and fill a yawning gap in Houston’s bike network by connecting the Buffalo Bayou Greenway, the Harrisburg Hike and Bike Trail, the Heritage Trail, and the Austin Street bikeway.

Sign the petition and tell local leaders from the City of Houston, Harris County, TIRZ 23 and the East End District to rebuild Commerce Street in a way that supports local economic development and safely connects the East End bike network with downtown Houston.
