My name is Georgiana, and I was a victim of constructive dismissal by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). After a gruelling legal battle, and irreparable damage to my family dynamic and financial situation. I emerged victorious in the employment relations authority. However, despite receiving some monetary award, I am still burdened with overwhelming legal costs totalling over $100,000.00.

This is not just my story; it's the story of many who have faced similar situations. According to a survey by Citizens Advice Bureau New Zealand, 20% of employees who win their cases are left with significant legal fees (source: CAB NZ Annual Report 2019). This unfair practice leaves victims like me in financial distress even after winning our cases.

I call on the Ministry of Social Development to take responsibility for the financial hardship they have inflicted on me and cover these costs. And attempt to restore the integrity of the values they claim to uphold.

This will not only provide relief for me but, will also set a precedent that MSD no longer tolerates this unacceptable behaviour from their management and waste tax payers money to protect them, while leaving the victim of this behaviour in life changing financial hardship.
