Many low income individuals are interested in owning a home. It is very practical for them to use their rental assistance and housing choice vouchers to do so. In fact, many Housing Authorities around the country allow this. Unfortunately, too many Housing Authorities DENY homeownership for families. The reasons for this vary, but these reasons are not at all not sufficient.
 
This must change immediately!

Every Housing Authority that distribute Housing Choice Vouchers, should empower families that are ready for homeownership. 

HUD is committed to providing permanent housing for the most vulnerable populations and the Housing Authorities need to play their part in executing this mission.
