I have been saying since I started the petition, it is not the time to take risky decisions with public money, simply because the current economic climate will be unable to facilitate safety nets. Best to use the money in the kitty wisely, helping the most venerable first, and if my proposed 'Compassion Fund' is set-up by the government, it could generate extra sums of money to use where needed. Taxing the energy companies is the ideal answer but if the government were able to do that or had the inclination, then thy would have done it much earlier. All is too late for this 'winter of discontent', that is approaching fast. We need to move forward the best we can with the wealth we already have rather than borrow, borrow, borrow and leave the next generation poorer, poorer, poorer. Borrow now, pay later, literally, is not what the current or the next generation deserve.
