Compassion Fund - To help the needy get through the cost of living crisis.

The Issue

With the cost of living rising at an alarming rate in the UK, which is likely to rise even faster in the coming winter months due to repeated hikes in energy and food prices, the most venerable in our society will suffer the most, and some may even lose their lives. It would be preposterous that a country as rich as ours can allow the most needy in our society to suffer in this way without making contingency plans. It seems that the Government handouts on their own will not be enough to address the unprecedented cost of living crisis we are heading towards. Therefore I am proposing a 'Compassion Fund' to be set-up by the government, managed by a team made up of government officials, delegates from major charities, and generally people who understand the needs of the most venerable in our society, and have experience in helping them. The most affluent in our society will be encouraged to contribute into the 'Compassion Fund', Billionaires, Millionaires, Major Super Markets, Big Conglomerates, Energy Companies, Businesses, and basically anyone else who can afford and wish to contribute. The great British public have always been charitable, now let us see how the very people who have made money from the public, step up and donate generously to help the public in their hour of need. I am optimistic that this project will be successful, because we are good at rallying round when the chips are down. This idea can evolve in the future to help with other such crisis, like natural disasters caused by global warming, which are likely to rise in the future.
