As most of the people in Whitmire have heard the future of our Piggly Wiggly isn't looking good. They have stated that the doors will be closing sometime next week. I have been on the phone the past couple hours trying to get more information and to see what we can do to change their actions. Please pray that we can keep our grocery store. This isn't the first time that we have had to deal with this and I pray that we are able to keep it. This store doesn't just is supported by people in Whitmire. There are a lot of people that travel out of town to shop here. Since 2001 the Town of Whitmire have suffered a good bit with the closing of West Point Stevens Plant. Then in 2008 with the closing of the Renfro Plant. These 2 plants helped keep Whitmire alive throughout the years. Since their closing we have been fortunate to have the Sea Pro Boat Corporation to move here. With Whitmire having a good many of elderly citizens and others that are not capable to travel out of town. Having the Piggly Wiggly close down will be devastating to our community.  Doing this petition is a long shot but one of ways to show the owners what the citizens of Whitmire want.
