Commute/Resentence David Ellis
The Issue
David was convicted of murder and given the sentence of LWOP at the irresponsible age of 19. Now, 26 years later and 46 years old, maturity and insight have set in. After a respectful breath of responsibility, remorse, and accountability, my husband is doing the work. Taking a Victim's Awareness class that sits the men in the victim's chair and being exposed to the concept of what they've done wrong. This class has inspired my husband to learn more, to change himself, become humbled by his actions, and reaching from within, to guide his younger family members away from criminal behavior and choices.
David has taken advantage of many educational programs. Victim's Awareness, Anger Management, Cognitive Behavioral Treatment, I.S.U.D.T. focusing on several topics actualizing the life developmental resource system, and countless other programs over the years. He will be earning his business certificate this year.
My husband and I are not blind or naive to the impact his crime had on many people, especially the victim’s loved ones. We are humbly asking for support by signing this petition, and given the opportunity, he will show what a valuable member of society he will be, and his rehabilitation will speak for itself.
Thank You,
Heather Ellis
