Even though, generally, when we think of wolves, we might think they are dangerous animals. However, red wolves are actually very beneficial to us! They help to prevent certain agricultural crops from being destroyed, attract visitors to the five-county recovery area. Additionally, red wolves attracts millions of dollars to local economies via ecotourism and provides other benefits as well. Unfortunately, the red wolves now have a wild population of under 25 wolves, making it the most endangered canine and one of the most endangered mammals. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) reports their total number in the wild to be fewer than 25. For this petition, we would like to just raise awareness for these animals as our school community project!
