Ms. Cain,

We wanted to follow up and provide you with an update on the planned safety improvements at the intersection of 15th and Ash.

After the engineer's recommendation was finalized, we moved forward with the ordering process in late April. With the estimated 8-week lead time for arrival, we anticipate materials to arrive in early-to-mid-June, with installation occurring soon after. We will be installing a flashing pedestrian beacon at the intersection. It is known as an "RRFB" or Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon. This will allow for safer crossing for students and pedestrians alike. We have several other similar pedestrian beacons throughout Ottawa, often on our trail crossings and sidewalks crossings near busy intersections.

As previously communicated, this intersection remains a priority for the City of Ottawa. Once the equipment is received, City crews will move forward with installation. Our intention is to complete all work this Summer, well before school traffic resumes.

We appreciate your patience throughout this process and your continued interest in seeing improvements at this intersection. Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.
