Community Petition - Bring Mrs. Hart Back!

The Issue

We, the undersigned members of the Blue Valley community, stand in strong support of Mrs. Hart, a teacher with more than 25 years of service in our schools, who is now facing termination following an incident on September 30th.

On that day, Mrs. Hart acted with compassion to support a student in distress, ensuring the child’s well-being and ability to rejoin learning. Her decisions were carried out with care, intention, and alignment with the values we share as a community.

Mrs. Hart’s career embodies the mission and vision of the Blue Valley School District: cultivating lifelong learners prepared to navigate their future with purpose; advancing academic excellence; supporting student and staff well-being; empowering exemplary educators; and providing a safe and inclusive community where every student feels valued. She has been recognized as a Teacher of the Year nominee three times and once as a Master Teacher, and she is widely respected by families and colleagues alike for her compassion and dedication.

We believe one moment, made with the intent to support a child, should not outweigh decades of service and commitment to Blue Valley’s mission and strategic plan, “Cultivating Blue Valley.”

We call on the district to:

Recognize Mrs. Hart’s decades of dedicated service to students and families.

Allow her to return to the classroom, where her presence is vital to student well-being and academic success.

Pursue restorative solutions that align with the district’s commitment to inclusivity, well-being, and community partnership rather than termination.
