This petition aims to address the targeted discrimination through anti-black graffiti not just on residents halls but on objects students and staff use. We as Black Students at CSU Monterey Bay want to know we are supported by our local officials and community members. Black students at CSU Monterey Bay have experienced racial discrimination on a continuous basis and WE ARE TIRED!

The demands that were not met last time: 

• Discrimination to be addressed more directly.
• RA’s to enforce no whiteboards on doors if that is not possible a written section located in community standards.
• Update fire safety alarms on doors. 

Demands we would like updates on: 

• Cameras in the dorm hallways and stairways.
• Mandatory racial discrimination and microaggression training for staff, students, faculty, and administration.
• UPD progress in investigating the perpetrator(s)
• A care team that reaches out to students in a quick manner

List of Demands: 

• Full transparency in CSUMB emails about the specific discrimination that occurred
• Bi-weekly updates on security features requested (cameras and door alarms)
• Zero tolerance hate crime policy
• More representation on campus (student body, faculty, staff, student leader positions)
• African/Black Studies Department
• Discrimination policy addressed in classrooms and written in the syllabus.
• Institutional funding for the HRC
