This a photo from Google Earth of the low income apartments in Marlton, which consist of 104 units ranging in rents from $350 to $810 for 1-3 bedroom apartments, depending on the income level of the resident. The development is spread on approximately 13 acres (the Nagle tract is 12 acres) consisting of 13 buildings. The developer, manager and residents of these apartments pay NO property taxes to the Township. Is this what the Mayor and Council plan to have built in Moorestown? We do not know at this point because we were not given any specific answers by the Council at the meeting on Sept. 25. This is yet another concern that the signers of this Petition would like answered before the Council settles the pending litigation over the amount of affordable housing with the Court, and by settling the case they would be legally binding the Township to whatever their plan is for Moorestown. And, yet, we have not been provided with important information about this proposed development by the Council.
Personally, we would rather not see this type of high-density low income housing anywhere in Moorestown and certainly not in the middle of one of the few remaining open farm fields in Moorestown and I believe there are better ways to attack the challenge of finding affordable housing so that all can enjoy the benefits of living in this wonderful community, including the people who will be living in the affordable housing that will be built.
If you agree that this is a concern, please continue to spread the word about this pending housing project.
Thank you.
