We, the Community Action Network, are asking the Altona Town Council to offer curbside compost pick up year-round in Altona to all citizens and businesses.​

Why? Compostable waste makes up 40% of all household waste which shortens the lifespan of our landfill and new ones are very expensive to create. Even worse is that when organics rot without oxygen in a traditional landfill, methane is produced, which is a powerful greenhouse gas contributing to climate change.
