The terrestrial television licence of Asia Television will expire on 1 April 2016 and will cease the broadcast at or BEFORE that day. Despite the Chief Executive and Executive Council has approved Viu TV as successor of broadcasting, the terms only state that Viu TV should start the broadcast its main channel, chiefly in Cantonese just after cease of broadcast of ATV. But the authorities allow Viu TV to start English broadcast as late as March 2017.

Fantastic TV will only start its main channel on late May 2017. English channel will lauch even later. If this situation occurs, Hong Kong SAR will have only 1 English terrestrial television channel, namely TVB Pearl. It will deprive the option of viewers.

We demand for:

launch Viu TV English channel and Fantastic TV immediately;

the channel should broadcast for at least 16 hours (i.e. 0000 to 0759, and 1600 to 2359) on weekdays,
and 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Financial and news text service should be displayed beyond normal broadcasting hours.

the channel should re-transmit major sports events, like Olympics, Asian Games, major international football, track and field events,
FIBA Basketball World Cup, tennis Grand Slam tournaments. the authorities should preserve band-width for high definition broadcast.

purchase Hong Kong broadcasting rights of ATV programmes and renew broadcasting rights of external programmes, and retain Classic Channel to broadcast ATV information programmes and Hong Kong old movies.
