Open the Mendon Twin Drive In

Open the Mendon Twin Drive In
The Issue
Here’s our plan to open legally and safely. Although the state hasn’t announced guidelines, we’ve spent considerable resource to prepare. We’ll be finished soon, and we’ll continue to refine and improve:
Use fences, spray paint, tape and signs to create six foot distance markers for all customer lines to restrooms, food, and beverage
Ask every employee to check their temperature and to avoid the property if they’ve been sick or if they’ve traveled out of state the last sixty days
Give every employee a mask and gloves
Sanitize all facilities
Clean the entire sixteen acres
Remove butter, sugar, and condiment dispensers, which customers used to get themselves, and replacing all of this with service by staff and individual packets
Cover all food including popcorn
Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office
Food can be purchased on an app and picked up on a table outside Judi’s Snack Bar
Only a few customers will be allowed inside Judi’s Snack Bar at any time, separated by bright red six feet distance markers, signs, and stanchions
Keep in mind, we’re a takeout food operation, there’s no indoor dining
We’ll continue to accept cash for tickets, food, and beverage as required by law and done at nearly every restaurant and retail business
Close every picnic table
Block off every other restroom facility (which already have physical barriers between them)
Increase cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms
Provide hand sanitizer for employees and customers
Announcements over the loud speaker system and on the two giant movie screens will remind everyone to maintain distancing
The drive-in is as safe as any restaurant takeout operation and safer than a Walmart, Target, Home Depot, or highway rest stop. A customer can choose to remain inside the vehicle the entire time, and we have much more space per person than almost any other business.
We’ll open for takeout only this Wednesday to Saturday 5 to 7pm, just like any clam shack or ice cream stand, as we seek to perfect our new operation.
We all have the necessary permits to serve takeout food, beverage, and bottles of wine to go.
If government declares it legal and safe, we’ll open for movies May 18, if not, as soon as we’re allowed.
Drive-ins of NH, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and several other states are open or open soon, and we congratulate them for providing safe, affordable family-friendly entertainment.
Our kids have no school, sports, parks, or pools. They are not allowed to play golf or go to the supermarket. Our kids are suffering physically and emotionally. Lets get open and provide some long overdue smiles
Please direct any questions about when we can open to your state rep, state senator, of the Governor’s office, as we can’t answer.
Yours in flicks, food, and fun
