The Isle Of Man does not have an animal welfare act! I started the puppy farm petition last year and while researching for this i found a serious lack of legislation to protect our animals. There are many TRUE stories of neglect and abuse on the isle of man, which has been allowed to happen. Not because the MSPCA do not care, they do! and have to see some terrible sights, they want to help, they go home knowing they have no power to help in certain situations. And why? Because creating an animal welfare act on the Island is not seen as a priority by tynwald. We can change that, the public decide what is considered a priority, please sign this petition and also write to your local MHK telling them why you have signed. If we do this we could have a welfare act in place by the end of the year or at least a draft ready to be put inplace for 2015. This will mean not only will puppy dealers and traders be held responsible for their actions, but will create a high standard for the welfare of all animals, and give the MSPCA long over due powers to intervene.
