1 Weatherell Street - a historically signficant home - is in danger.  There is a proposal for a three-storey new build on the property.

Local experts have been trying to get heritage designation for the property for over a decade.  Neighbours have been contacting Councillor Perks' office and Toronto Heritage to express concern about the status of the house since 2018. 

1 Weatherell Street is an Arts and Crafts house built by prominent Toronto architect Henry Simpson.

Simpson built the home for himself as a cottage and he lived there until his death in December of 1926.  The home was lovingly owned by the same family since the 1950s and is in pristine condition.

The architectural detailing is superb and it is a neighbourhood landmark.  This home is an important representation of Bloor West Village's unique character. 

There is also a spectacular heritage oak adjacent to the house which is also in danger

Originally across the road from the local Lawnbowling Club, the house is on a raised corner location, which it has quietly dominated for almost a century.
