Commit to the urgent rebuilding of North Manchester General

The Issue

North Manchester General urgently needs to be rebuilt.

The Manchester Evening News calls for the Government to commit to the plans to create a new hospital - a project which is also a ‘once in a generation’ opportunity to transform lives in one of the most deprived communities in the country.

Proposals to turn the former workhouse into a cutting edge centre of excellence are ready and waiting.

For five years different Governments have promised the much needed project would go ahead but there is STILL no firm commitment.

We say the people in north Manchester have waited long enough for the hospital they deserve. We call on Wes Streeting to prioritise this desperately needed work so that building can begin in 2025.

Join the Manchester Evening News to call on the Health Secretary to act and act now. Enough is enough.

The Manchester Evening News calls on Wes Streeting to:

Commit to fully fund the new hospital
Prioritise the rebuild for 2025
