Miami’s US Sailing Center’s lease is up for renewal and we need your support to impress its importance upon the City of Miami Commissioners! The USSC, one of only 18 US Olympic Training Sites sanctioned by the U.S. Olympic Committee (and the only one for sailing!), provides much needed infrastructure for sailing in Miami. A volunteer-based organization, the USSC provides public access to Miami’s waterfront, public storage and launching, regatta hosting, team training, and community outreach at minimal for a fee-for-use cost. For both current members of the US Olympic Sailing team as well as team hopefuls, the USSC serves as a critically important training facility with year round training. In addition to Olympians, young sailors of all levels learn, train, and compete at the Sailing Center, rubbing shoulders with their Olympic sailing heroes. Sailors come to the US Sailing Center from all over the world to train and compete in numerous international regattas, bringing millions of dollars to the local community. Without the US Sailing Center, these invaluable benefits would disappear, greatly impacting sailing in the United States for years to come. Please show your support for the future of the US Sailing Center Miami by signing this petition, emailing the City of Miami Commissioners, and coming to the public hearing where the vote on the lease renewal will take place on May 10, 2018 at Miami City Hall.
