LENIENCY FOR DJ COP, HE EXERCISED GOOD COMMUNITY POLICING

LENIENCY FOR DJ COP, HE EXERCISED GOOD COMMUNITY POLICING
The Issue
A Jamaican cop, Con. Lindon Black, who was captured on video in an impromptu lyrical clash with a civilian deejay, at a dance he was assigned to lock off, is now facing a probe by the Police High Command.
The cop, who was seen in his uniform belting out dancehall lyrics much to the delight of the patrons, has been hauled up by his superiors who have expressed concern about his behaviour. It is confirmed that the event was a community effort to raise money for one of the Digicel Rising Stars, a fundraising effort often pursued by contestants in their respective communities.
His impromptu performance and lyrical prowess was effective in raising money for the Digicel contestant as patrons, including children, were seen throwing money in support.
We believe that Con. Black of the Whitehouse police station, Westmoreland, epitomizes the essence of good community policing in adding a human touch to his work. Further, we are befuddled by the news that he now faces disciplinary action, at a time, when the police is perceived as anti-citizens, and community policing should be the thrust of the JCF's efforts to bridge the gap in goodwill between the police and the citizenry..
We hereby asked that you sign this petition in urging the Commissioner of Police, Dr. Carl Williams, to exercise leniency in any possible disciplinary action, and recommend that Con. Black be formally engage in the force's community policing efforts.
