So I’ve been thinking about the anthem protest issue as a huge fan of football and the NFL. Nobody wants to divide the country further through this debate, not even NFL or Kaepernick, even if the opposite may seem to be true. I think I have a compromise that both sides would agree with. I need the community’s help to spread it. Roger Goodell: Your actions on dealing with the deflategate and spygate have historically established the authority of the NFL and yourself on controversial topics. You have also dealt with many misconduct issues among the league. HOWEVER your indecision on the anthem protest issue has made you ultimately seem weak. You have offered a variety of half-baked solutions that haven’t panned out. Your current stance on the debate is dreadful in its bias and you MUST take further action to prevent the collapse of the NFL. I’ve debated with myself about this issue a lot, and I think the conclusion I came to, while still controversial, would ultimately benefit the largest amount of people. Protests are American &  so is the anthem, so we should allow a platform for both. How do we create this platform? The solution fundamentally changes the way the anthem is celebrated. Mr. Goodell, NFL, you should move the anthem’s performance from pregame to the halftime show. Its purpose would stay the same: It’s a way to honor the flag & those it represents. This change would allow players to privately honor it if they choose, but also allows them not to without disrupting the respect of the flag. I need your help to institute the new change.
